Description

Robert Half is supporting the recruiting efforts of a company in the construction industry to find a Payroll Manager. This is a full time, permanent position in Westminster. It is hybrid after training, and is paying $100-115k. Additional information and job requirements are below. Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage payroll operations to ensure all payrolls are processed accurately, on time, and in compliance with legislative requirements, SOX controls, and company policies.

  • Ensure payrolls are completed and reconciled on schedule according to internal controls to maintain compliance, mitigate risk, and minimize error rates.

  • Establish backup plans across functional areas to ensure business continuity in emergencies.

  • Oversee year-end payroll and tax activities, including preparing Forms W-2, fringe benefit reporting, year-end reconciliations, special payroll runs, and other annual reporting.

  • Communicate with stakeholders on payroll issues and act as a liaison to ensure issue resolution.

  • Review Benefits Plan changes to assess payroll impact.

  • Manage the payroll garnishment process to ensure compliance and timely, accurate remittance.

  • Deliver excellent customer service by fostering effective working relationships with employees, management, and other departments.

  • Manage 401K and HSA interface files from payroll to third-party vendors.

  • Validate and audit mass data changes, including merit increases, bonuses, and open enrollment.

  • Respond to agencies regarding payroll taxes, including quarterly and annual taxes, state and local taxes, and IRS inquiries.

  • Collaborate with Finance, Treasury, and vendors on payroll funding, bank interface files, and reconciliations.

  • Assist with reports needed for company audits, including Workers Comp and 401K audits.

  • Automate recurring processes and centralize tasks and systems where beneficial for the company.

  • Develop and deliver payroll reports to internal and external customers.

  • Ensure document retention adheres to best practices and legal requirements.

  • Serve as the organization's payroll expert, demonstrating expertise in time systems, prevailing wage, certified payroll, and payroll taxes, from new state applications to employee-level coding and state reciprocities.

  • Participate in mergers and acquisition initiatives, including due diligence and payroll system integrations.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll information at all times.
