Himalayan Dog Chew, LLC Controller in Arlington, Washington

NOW HIRING! Himalayan Dog Chew, LLC is looking for a Financial Controller to join our pack! Starting with a creation by two brothers in 2003, Himalayan created a new category in the pet industry, thus changing the dog chew class significantly. By 2016, we became a leader in the industry as we expanded out into other pet categories, transforming our company from a single product-oriented business to a pet supply company.

The Controller works closely with the Corporate Controller, CFO, and President to improve and maintain the local Plant’s Operational accounting functions. This position will provide ownership and accountability for the Plant’s cost accounting, loss & labor analysis, inventory control, fixed asset accounting, cost controls, monthly financial close, accounts payable approvals, general ledger posting, etc. Himalayan is seeking a self-motivated, results-driven Controller with a strong desire to win. Himalayan is an industry leader in manufacturing in the Greater Seattle area and we are looking for a forward-thinking Controller who is ready to join our team and help us continue to grow.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  include but not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for numerous aspects of month-end close including preparation of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, and critical analysis of changes in account balances to ensure accurate balances are reflected in the financial statements in accordance with GAAP;

  • Development and ongoing preparation of month-end financial reporting packages, other internal management reports, and external bank compliance reporting;

  • Manage all local accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting as well as deploy best in class processes and controls to local accounting operations.

  • Oversee all activities related to the cash application, customer deduction tracking and credit/ collection process

  • Assess, review, and maintain the Vendor payment processes

  • Maintenance of and comparative analysis against annual budget, and interim forecasts;

  • Historical financial statement review and correction as necessary;

  • Responsible for preparing and presenting weekly and monthly analytical reports related to sales, cashflow and inventory management;

  • Promote business partnership with local Plant leadership through active collaboration, support, and pursuit of strategic and tactical opportunities and challenges. Act as the site financial expert and resource while promoting alignment with company vision.

  • Partner with local Plant leadership and Corporate in the preparation, review and analysis of plant level budgets, forecasts and analysis of results.

  • Develop and implement best practices for accounting policies and procedures, providing training to client staff as necessary;

  • Maintain auditable systems and effectively support internal and external audits

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Lead the local Accounting Team, providing performance management and supervisory oversight.

    QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

    Demonstrated ability to successfully present financial results, plans and objectives to the local Plant leadership and Corporate.

  • B.S./B.A. in Accounting;

  • 5+ years of diverse public and private accounting experience;

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment and strong knowledge of cost accounting;

  • Strong MS Excel skills is required

  • Prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central

  • Prior experience with QuickBooks;

  • Prior public accounting experience is a plus;

  • Holding an active CPA credential is a plus;
