The AMER Venue Systems Engineering Manager, Event Productions (EP) leads a team of talented System Engineers who oversee both the health and maintenance of the production systems as well as the operations of the production systems during events for the AMER Event Productions team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside company’s leadership, supporting high-impact events through system engineering team operations. Candidates should have a diverse background as a live production engineer management demonstrating deep systems knowledge, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to think big and deliver results that raise the bar for our customers. A successful candidate will have an impeccable focus and drive to constantly improve the customer experience. The System Engineering Manager will evaluate risks to properly direct team to provide optimum solutions, manage large production overhaul and maintenance projects, and strategically support team development for continued growth to lead industry standards.

Key job responsibilities

This role will be directly responsible for leading the System Engineering team on the health and success of all the production equipment located within AMER Venues, studios, and remote locations in addition to operating and ensuring the success of each event that takes place within these production environments. This role will also directly work with the leadership within the Event Production organization and partner teams, to ensure that the quality of the systems and the operating procedures remain of bar raising quality.

• Proactively engage with production teams to pursue process improvements.

• Evangelizes team standard operating procedures

• Leads new hire onboarding and development plans

• Manages and develops System Engineers

• Reviews and manages team related data and metrics

• Acts as an escalation point for direct reports and customers

• Develops and improves communication across teams and services

• Leads System Engineering project planning for venues, studios, and remote productions • Builds and maintains strong relationships with partner groups and stakeholders

• Works on team related programmatic initiatives

• Ensure industry best practices are followed with a safety-first mindset

A day in the life

The Venue Systems Engineering Manager will oversee East Coast Systems Engineers for Event Productions AMER. These Systems Engineers are responsible for ensuring that the quality of the systems and the operating procedures remain of bar raising quality for the productions that they support. Gives clear direction through communications to team members on-site and in remote locations, effectively lead meetings driving progress for intended results, and supports overall Event Productions to meet organizational goals and serve customers at a bar raising quality.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or 4+ years of professional or military experience

  • 5+ years of developing a team of technical professionals across multiple locations experience

  • 5+ years of leading technology teams as a information technology operations manager experience

  • 5+ years with video over IP technologies including SMPTE 2110, PTP, and NMOS

  • 5+ years of networking (such as DNS, DHCP, SSL, OSI Model, and TCP/IP)

  • 5+ years of Windows Server technologies: AD, DFS, Print Services, SCCM experience

  • 5+ years of corporate setting Windows, Mac, or Linux Operating systems support

  • 8+ years in event production / broadcast television / entertainment / theatre production environment

  • Ability to develop team members to troubleshoot audio/video signals in traditional SDI and IP ST 2110 environments

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex calendaring systems, inventory databases, including related metrics

  • Demonstrated experience with system engineering management and familiarity with industry best practices and emerging technologies

  • Understanding of venue and studio technologies such as video walls, cameras, VR, and lighting

  • Ability to adjust work schedule to business needs, including occasional travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of hardware architectures

  • Experience with system management tools and client/server environments

  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to dive deep in to related metrics

  • Experience supporting video conference and teleconference equipment

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Visio, Tableau, Microsoft Outlook and MS Office Suite.
