The Amazon Tax department is a fast-paced, team-focused, dynamic environment. Amazon Global Tax Services (GTS) is seeking a Senior Program Manager with experience in Portfolio management to join our expanding team.
The Tax Program Management Office (PMO) drives global, complex Tax projects that have a high degree of involvement across many teams at Amazon as well as across Tax, or when Tax leadership believes this team can help on a specific business problem. In addition, through our GTS Portfolio team, we lead Amazon Tax through efficient prioritization, cross team coordination, and resource planning with internal GTS teams and its Tax delivery partners to deliver an agreed upon annual operational plan.
The Senior Program manager will drive collaboration and alignment across Tax's priorities, ensuring the right level of engagement is met. In addition, the ideal candidate will align roadmaps and priorities between delivery partner teams. Partnering with key stakeholders is critical to operate within a fast-paced and complex environment. The role is required to have a detailed understanding of their Portfolio and key customers, is comfortable discussing strategic matters, and makes high velocity decisions while navigating a high level of ambiguity.
Key job responsibilities
Maintains intake backlog, reviews net new intakes, completes grooming with respective requestors, and portfolio review
Leads and drives x-functional monthly New Intake Meeting with requesting team and related stakeholders
Works with internal partners in performing impact assessment, identifying project dependencies and obtaining confirmation that all resource dependencies are committed to aid in prioritization.
Prepares prioritized roadmap with adequate request descriptions for delivery teams to complete scoping and level of effort for annual plan
Delivers meaningful, consolidated, and timely monthly FLASH reports to key stakeholders
Prepares process documentation (FAQs, SOPs, templates), create training materials/ publish Wiki and other training toolkits
Delivers Training to key Tax team members on the prioritization and intake process
Coordinate with other Portfolio and Program managers in the prioritization and portfolio planning, reviews, and end to end portfolio cycle
Develop, execute, and drive continuous improvement of Tax PMO's prioritization and portfolio processes
Present and articulate complex concepts to cross-functional executive audiences
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of program or project management experience
Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of driving process improvements experience
Experience working in a matrixed organization
Formal Portfolio and Project Management education

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
