PacArctic, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer with a Secret clearance to support PAC and our government customer in Arlington, VA.

The purpose of the task order is to provide one senior Network Security Engineer personnel in support of the OIG EX/IT Department. providing quality and comprehensive IT support to the OIG in an effective and efficient manner with a vision to maintain IT operations commensurate with industry best practices, while ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of OIG data.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Senior Network Security Engineer (One position – 1920 standard hours per 12-month period):

  • Designs and implements Zero-Trust Network Architecture (ZTNA) across onsite and IaaS deployments.

  • Demonstrates subject matter expertise (7-10 years) in senior network security engineering role, supporting on-prem and cloud networking appliances.

  • Provides onsite consultative interaction with OIG IT Business Units to understand business problems and needs, developing IT Infrastructure Scopes of Work, and developing and documenting IT Infrastructure requirements, conceptual designs and project execution strategies.

  • Designs wired and wireless local area networks (LANs), IPv6 management, and Network security services, including 802.1x.

  • Oversee installation and management of circuit provisioning.

  • Monitoring performance and usage parameters of WAN circuits

  • Act as a contract lead for network operations, management and monitoring.

  • Design, development, support and security of network test environments for all network services

  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise in the areas of Routing, Switching, Remote access, Security Information, Event management, and Next Generation Firewalls with product specific knowledge of Azure, Zscaler, Cisco and Juniper Switches, and Palo Alto Networks Firewalls.

  • Provides Network and Security engineering support for internal systems integration projects such as cloud-based services, VOIP, virtualized infrastructure, server and storage environment, and demonstrates industry best practices in implementation.

  • Design, development and network/security implementation expertise with Microsoft Azure environments

  • Development and maintenance of the physical and logical network design documentation, network diagrams, and security best practices. Experience with ITIL, CMMI, and/or PMP processes and implementation.

  • Respond to and remediate the efforts of malicious activity and intrusions as defined in the Incident Management process and demonstrate expertise in PCAP analysis.

  • Ability to provide last tier support during normal business and after hours in critical network outage situations to provide quick resolution

  • Guide and/or assist junior staff with operational tasks and projects under the team portfolio

  • Coordinates efforts onsite with and reports results to the DOS OIG CIO or CIO designate.

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Palo Alto Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certifications preferred

  • Secret clearance required.

  • 10+ years of experience with LAN and WAN hardware including Juniper, Cisco, Palo Alto, Load Balancing, cable and rack management

  • 5+ years routing, troubleshooting engineering, and network architecture experience required.

  • 5+ Years of experience in analyzing, installing, configuring, enhancing and/or maintaining the components of an enterprise network.

  • 3+ Years of experience in administering Palo Alto Networks firewalls.

  • IPv6 administration experience required.

  • 1+ Years of experience with Zero-Trust VPN solutions.

  • Knowledge of network security best practices

  • Ability to manage projects, take ownership and execute objectives in order to meet deadlines

  • Effective written and verbal communication

  • Deep understanding of network protocols - IPSEC, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, Multi-link Point2Point, DHCP, SNMP, TCP, UDP

  • VOIP experience preferred

  • SD-WAN experience preferred

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
