The Boeing Product Standards Office is looking for a Senior Industry Standards Project Engineer to take charge of identifying, developing, and implementing strategic enterprise-wide projects for external (non-Boeing) standards. With thousands of external standards users and hundreds of standards development participants, this role will lead efforts to enhance connectivity among our external standards stakeholders and maximize the value of external standards to Boeing. The strategies and projects led by this position and team are critical in supporting and advancing enterprise-wide operations, products, services, and supply chain.

This is an excellent opportunity to capture significant improvements and make substantial impacts to Boeing business. This position can be based out of Arlington, VA; Hazelwood, MO; Huntsville, AL; Mesa, AZ; or North Charleston, SC.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead development of external standards statement of work, strategies, and projects through coordination with enterprise leadership

  • Provide Engineering (technical, business, and integration) leadership in standards projects for enterprise teams across many skill areas, including internal and external resources and customers.

  • Lead project execution to successfully complete the work statement, including planning and identifying resources required throughout the project or program's lifespan.

  • Integrate and support hundreds of Boeing standards participants and thousands of Boeing standards users, both engineering and non-engineering.

  • Represent Boeing in external/industry engagements related to standards strategies, policies, and processes, helping Boeing navigate and influence the standards ecosystem

  • Identify and manage risks, issues, and opportunities in Boeing's use of and participation in external standards

  • Identify and manage changes to the SOW, assess their impact, and incorporate changes into the SOW.

  • Identify and implement performance metrics, data, and analytics to measure success

  • Work under consultative direction.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 10+ years of engineering experience

  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role (i.e., manager, project manager, team lead, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in leadership roles with standards developing bodies (e.g. committees, working groups, consortiums, boards, etc.)

  • Project Management Professional Certification

  • A proven track record in effective development and implementation of vision and strategy

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $140,250 – $203,550
