Amazon Risk Manager, RISC in Arlington, Virginia

The Risk Manager plays a crucial role in driving the organization's risk management initiatives and ensuring compliance across global function.

Think of this role as a non-technical “solution architect” where you will be given the autonomy to develop a strategy and build effective controls to ensure WW customer safety.

This individual will champion the adoption of new tools and programs that fortify our compliance efforts, conduct comprehensive risk assessments on existing processes and new product assortments, identify potential vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies.

These recommendations may encompass process improvements, training enhancements, and other measures to effectively manage and mitigate identified risks.

The Risk Manager will leverage their influence to shape behaviors, spearhead projects in collaboration with corporate counsel, legal, business partners, selling partner experience and support teams, operational excellence, product, BI and data science/engineering teams and foster cross-functional team commitment to upholding Amazon's policies and to deliver high-impact end to end compliance solutions.

Key job responsibilities

  • Define control launch strategy and vision.

  • Lead execution and maintenance of proactive safety solutions of large-scale category for US store and apply learnings globally.

  • Build mechanisms and send out communication to leaders on the progress.

  • Manage cross functional teams indirectly involved with the execution of the program.

  • Partner with Business intelligence teams to build required reporting and sharing periodic updates with leaders.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • 4+ years of program requirements definition and data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements experience

  • Experience handling confidential information

  • Experience setting direction, and delivering detail-oriented results in environments with frequently shifting priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SQL and Excel

  • 4+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience

  • Experience establishing successful partnerships with internal and external teams to execute tactical initiatives or equivalent

  • Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to clearly communicate complex and technical subject matter to a diverse group of stakeholders

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $142,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
