Jacobs Instrumentation and Controls Field Professional in Arlington, Virginia
We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Controls Field Professional to join our team. In this role, you will:
Ensure safe work practices.
Represent Jacobs in the field and manage electrical construction teams.
Lead I/O and instrumentation checkout, troubleshooting, and verification.
Ensure project scope and schedule adherence.
Report changes and forecast impacts on scope, cost, and schedule.
Track progress towards milestones.
Prevent schedule delays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Management:
o Implement and enforce safety protocols on construction sites.
o Facilitate safety training sessions for team members.
o Regularly audit work areas to identify and address potential hazards.
o Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations during installation.
- Instrumentation, Controls, and Mechanical Installation and Checkout
o Oversee installation, wiring, testing, and calibration of instrumentation systems and control panels.
o Troubleshoot and resolve issues.
o Manage LV electrical systems and controls installation.
o Verify that all wiring connections are secure and functional per design documentation.
- Construction Subcontractor Management:
o Scope, Schedule, and Budget Forecasting and Management: Oversee the scope, schedule, and budget for electrical contractors.
o Planning and Logistics: Conduct reviews, planning, and logistics for projects. Anticipate potential delays and work to mitigate.
o Cost Estimation: Develop scope and estimate costs for field changes.
o Performance Evaluation: Evaluate subcontractor performance.
o Documentation:
Document the effectiveness of the electrical contractor (EC) crew and verify work hours.
Document the work performed by the EC.
Manage and report on safety.
Document metrics and methods to understand work.
o Staffing: Ensure qualified and adequate staffing.
o Coordination: Coordinate with project managers and other disciplines.
o Compliance: Ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
o Work Management: Document and manage the work of electrical constructors.
o Engineering Input: Provide control and instrumentation input to detailed engineering documentation.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in electrical or instrumentation construction.
Experience leading and conducting control system I/O checkouts and instrumentation functional troubleshooting.
Experience with building automation/building management systems (BMS/BAS) and instrumentation installation.
Data center construction, operations, or maintenance experience.
Familiarity with US construction practices and regulations. (NEC, NESC, OSHA)
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ideally, you'll also have:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
OSHA 30 or OSHA 10
Licensed electrician
Licensed engineer
