Description

Amazon’s Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Key job responsibilities

We are looking for a stellar lawyer to join Project Kuiper’s legal team. This lawyer will join a team responsible for providing legal counsel on all aspects of Kuiper’s U.S. regulatory advocacy and compliance, as well as supporting international advocacy and compliance efforts, including drafting regulatory advocacy and licensing filings, advising on regulatory issues, and supporting internal and external regulatory meetings. The lawyer will work with Kuiper’s technical teams, public policy team, and other stakeholders throughout Amazon to strategize and advise on the constellation of regulatory issues involved in designing and building a global satellite network.

Prior satellite or regulatory experience is helpful but not required. But a successful candidate must have the skills and curiosity to become familiar with the technical and regulatory aspects of our innovative constellation, satellites, software and ground-based infrastructure. Success in this role requires superb writing and analytical skills, excellent judgment in facing novel issues, a strong bias for action, creativity, collegiality, flexibility, and enthusiasm for our mission to connect the unserved and underserved around the globe.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of legal experience

  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, oral)

  • 3+ years working on regulatory matters or technology related litigation

  • Ability to travel as needed

  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment

  • Ability to work independently while contributing successfully to cross-functional teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
