Job Description

Purpose & Scope:

Oversees all remote and in-person cardiac device monitoring activities within the VHC Health Physician Cardiology Service Line, for patients with Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIED) including loop recorders and pacemakers. This includes prior authorizations, device interrogation report monitoring, confirmation of accurate frequency, and coordination of reports for our Cardiology Providers to read and interpret.

Monitors patient device checks for timely accuracy, every three (3) months remotely, and every one (1) year in person, effectively and efficiently reporting findings and changes to overseeing Physicians. Serves as the administrator for all cardiac device brand websites. Monitors for batteries approaching end of life in implanted loop recorders and pacemakers. Oversees the downloading, indexing, and routing of reports to Cardiologists for review and action. Develops excellent relationships with vendor representatives to ensure ease of patient scheduling outside of normal device check schedules. Responsible for ensuring all patients are compliant with device check frequency, and monitors interim reports for timely Cardiology Provider coordination should there be a reported patient cardiac event. Serves as a liaison with Cardiology Providers. Promotes patient education on the purpose of Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices and requirements for routine monitoring. Communicates with patients and vendors to assist enrolling, troubleshooting, and ordering equipment to ensure remote connectivity and continuity of care. Promotes the completion of timely, concise, and accurate documentation for Physician’s final review. Escalates device problems to the attention of Providers, and documents within CIED database and with manufacturer. Oversee remote CIED monitoring including scheduling (in-person and remote), downloading clinical information, analyzing transmissions, and importing to database for physician review.

Schedules, meets, greets, and registers patients in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner. Answers and routes telephone calls and messages. Oversees and coordinates insurance verifications and preauthorizations. Maintains medical records and prepares charts for clinic sessions. Provides assistance as needed to physicians, Practice Manager, and clinical staff.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent is required. College Degree Preferred.

Experience:

Two Years Cardiac Device Monitoring experience Required

Two Years Healthcare/Medical - Medical Office Experience Required

None.
