Job Description
Purpose & Scope:
Under the general administrative direction of the Director, the Assistant Director Facilities Engineering is responsible for the direct supervision of the Facilities Engineering personnel in the operation and maintenance of multiple buildings and structures. Provides coordination and supervision of all preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance building systems for all VHC Health Facilities & Structures. The position will supervise the Chief Engineer and staff performing this work. It will include spring and fall seasonal maintenance, including but not limited to rooftop equipment, split systems, VAV boxes, exhaust and supply fans and units, cooling towers, Boilers, etc. Will coordinate the work, ensuring that it is all done before the start-up of the equipment in each respective season. Seasonal PMs and start-ups will be performed by contracted services. This position will provide oversight and management of work done by contractors performing PM, seasonal start, and other corrective work as assigned to ensure that all work is performed per contract and in accordance with VHC Health and/or industry standards. This work is performed to preserve and extend the estimated useful life of VHC Health buildings and all associated components. Provides coaching and counseling to staff supervision and completes/conducts annual performance reviews as required. Trains staff on how to perform PM and seasonal checks of equipment to industry standards and in accordance with codes and OSHA requirements.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a certificate from an approved general or special engineering trade course is preferred.
Experience:
10 years of experience as a General Mechanic or General Engineer or equivalent experience is required.
Certification/Licensure:
Class III DC or MD Boiler Operator's License is preferred.
