NATIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR MUSEUM
The National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington, Texas will serve as the premier national institution dedicated to the stories, impact, and legacy of the service members who went on to become Medal of Honor recipients. Neither a war memorial nor a military museum, the National Medal of Honor Museum is a humbling endeavor that will take visitors on a narrative journey through the life stories of ordinary people who made extraordinary choices above and beyond the call of duty. The museum footprint encompasses over 100,000 square feet, cornering five acres of waterfront in Arlington, Texas. Over 31,000 square feet of Exhibition Galleries as well as dedicated spaces for meetings, symposiums, memorials, and ceremonies. THE ROLE
The Finance Manager is responsible for maximizing the return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems. The Finance Manager is additionally responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business and driving the National Medal of Honor Museum’s (NMOHM) financial planning. The Finance Manager will have oversight of the Accounting and Finance functions. Furthermore, this position will monitor and analyze capital and operating budgets, including monthly financial analyses, monthly forecasting, annual planning, cash forecasting, and ad hoc business analyses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Financial Management: Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting functions including accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, payroll reconciliation, and general ledger
Reconciliation of credit card transactions (cashless venue)
Oversee the inventory process
Prepare a daily flash revenue report
Analyze monthly balance sheet and P&L figures to prepare comments and expose performance trends
Month-End and Year-End Process: Ensure the timely and accurate reporting of all monthly financial information and assist the VP, Finance in all financial reporting, including preparation of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations for all general ledger accounts
Budget & Forecasts: Support the General Manager in the development and implementation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
Participate in the planning and administration of the annual budget process including detailed review of departmental budget submissions
Reporting: Review and prepare monthly financial results, forecasts, and externally required financial reports. Assist in the preparation of ad hoc financial analysis for senior management.
Assist senior management with analysis of information and prospective decisions based on information obtained from accounting and operating results
Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Audit Support: Coordinate and complete annual audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
Policy & Procedures: Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and operations, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
Assist in the design and development of internal control procedures to safeguard company assets. Implement cost savings solutions.
Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the accounting staff, including performance review, staff development, and training.
Build solid working relationships with client and department leaders
Communicate results of analytical review in verbal and written presentations to the client
Perform other duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, the successful candidate must be able to perform each essential duty below at the highest levels. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in tourism or hospitality industry
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and other MS Office software required
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail essential
Must be highly analytical, can think creatively, and understand complex business dynamics
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment
Knowledge of Accesso and point of sale systems a plus
Prior experience in working with non-profit organizations a plus
Ability to work both traditional and non-traditional hours (nights, weekends, holidays) as required
