Job Summary
The TRIO Student Support Services Tutor Coordinator coordinates tutoring services for participants in the TRIO Student Support Services Program (SSS). Oversee day-to-day tutoring services, schedule students into tutoring sessions, manage peer educators (tutors).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate tutoring schedules – Receive participant requests from Student Support Services Program (SSS) staff & schedule individual/group tutoring session(s).
Assist SSS participants with schedule changes; Reassign hours for absent tutors.
Monitor/update SSS tutoring schedules and tutoring room assignments
Supervise and oversee the progress of peer educators (tutors/mentors)
Conduct departmental meetings with peer educators.
Record and track tutoring absences (excused/unexcused).
Facilitate evaluations of each peer educator
Review tutor evaluations with director and determine course of future assignments
Training and Evaluation of Peer Educators – Develop, coordinate, implement SSS tutor training topics, online and in-person
Collaborate with recruitment, selection, hiring, training and evaluation of SSS peer educators
Assist with leveling up of peer educators for academic year (Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters)
Maintain accurate records of services for local and federal reporting
Assist with the recruitment of participants who qualify for the program
Assist in the assessment of student needs for support services
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education, behavioral sciences, psychology, sociology, social work, or related fields/disciplines, or equivalent with a concentration in the field of learning development.
Two (2) years of experience with the SSS eligible students.
Experience in student development, developmental education, and/or student support (e.g., mentoring, advising, tutoring, coaching).
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of some graduate hours.
Master’s degree and two (2) years or more experience working with the SSS eligible students.
Experience in student development, developmental education, and/or student support (e.g., mentoring, advising, tutoring, coaching).
Experience tutoring and/or teaching in a college setting.
Experience working with low-income, first generation, and/or disabled students.
TRIO Student Support Services Tutor, Coordinator, Student Success, TRIOS, tutoring, teaching.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
Knowledge of learning styles and teaching techniques.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and UTA software systems such as PeopleSoft and Canvas.
Professional presentation, interpersonal, oral & written communication skills with ability to build rapport with students, faculty, and colleagues.
Professional management and training skills.
Knowledge of learning theories and techniques.
Ability to function efficiently in high volume office to provide services upon demand and to work independently and as a team member.
Professional customer service skills.
