R&D Mechanical Engineer II - Cardiac Rhythm Management Arden Hills, MN At Boston Scientific, our products and technologies are used to diagnose or treat a wide range of medical conditions. In Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) we offer solutions for treating irregular heart rhythms and heart failure and protecting against sudden cardiac arrest. Boston Scientific develops, manufactures, and markets a broad array of products and services that enable less-invasive care for some of the most threatening cardiac conditions. We've been expanding indications and conducting pivotal research for more than 20 years, resulting in increased access to the lifesaving and life-enhancing benefits of ICD and CRT therapies. Purpose Responsible for providing mechanical engineering support and expertise in the definition, design, development and testing of new and existing cardiac leads and related accessories. Key Responsibilities Researches, develops, designs, and evaluates mechanical and electro-mechanical materials, components, assemblies, processes and/or equipment. Solves engineering problems by analyzing the situation and recommending corrective or alternative actions. Conducts feasibility studies to verify capability and functionality. Directs support personnel and coordinates project activities. Actively promotes and participates in a cross -functional teamwork environment. Maintains detailed documentation throughout all phases of research and development. Writes validation and verification protocols and reports applicable to new test methods and products. Investigates and evaluates existing technologies and manufacturing techniques. Reviews or coordinates vendor activities to support development. Selects appropriate techniques to solve complex problems. Summarizes and analyzes data and draws conclusions as the basis for making sound engineering recommendations. Communicates research and experimental results to the technical community and management. Coordinates, manages, and documents project goals and progress. Required Minimum Qualifications B.S. or higher from an accredited school in Mechanical, Biomechanical, Electromechanical, or Biomedical Engineering or related field 2+ years of work experience in mechanical engineering OR 2+ months experience with related MS Degree Preferred Qualifications Medical device design and or process experience. Desire for leadership with traits of being an independent thinker, self-starting, with strong communication skills. Strong mechanical aptitude with a creative unbiased approach to problem solving. Experience working hands-on designing and evaluating test methods and fixtures.
