Job Overview

Under the direction of the Design Engineering Manager, the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be tasked with the design, configuration, testing, and maintenance of electrical switching and control equipment.

A Day In The Life

The following roles and responsibilities will be required to fulfil the position:

  • Participate in cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams to design and develop new contactors and other electromechancial equipment, ensuring they meet industry standards and specifications.

  • Create and maintain 3D solid models, design layouts, and production drawings using CAD tools.

  • Create prototypes of new designs to test functionality and performance, making necessary adjustments based on testing results.

  • Prepare and maintain detailed design documentation, including specifications, drawings, and engineering reports.

  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure components can be produced efficiently and cost-effectively.

  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Five years of work experience related to the design and maintenance of electromechanical equipment such as contactors, switchgear, or other high powered control equipment.

  • Strong understanding of electro-mechanical systems and their integration.

  • Experience with 2D/3D CAD design tools; familiarity with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD desired.

  • Strong organizational skills in project planning, design, and quality control.

  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and to communicate effectively with team members, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.

  • BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering
