Job Overview

Under the direction of the Design Engineering Manager, the Senior Automation Engineer will be tasked with the design, configuration, testing, and maintenance of automated assembly lines for new product designs of electro-mechanical devices.

A Day In The Life

The following roles and responsibilities will be required to fulfil the position:

  • Lead the design of automated assembly line systems, including layout, equipment selection, and integration of electro-mechanical components.

  • Create detailed engineering specifications and documentation for automated systems.

  • Work closely with design engineers to optimize the design of new products for efficient assembly on automated lines, ensuring that product specifications and manufacturability align with automation capabilities.

  • Develop and implement quality control measures to ensure that automated systems meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Utilize data analysis and performance metrics to monitor system effectiveness and make data-driven decisions.

  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • 8+ years of work experience related to the design and layout of automated assembly line products with high voltage test requirements.

  • Proficient in automation technologies, including PLCs, HMI’s, robotics, sensors, instrumentation, and control systems.

  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or specific PLC languages.

  • Experience with 2D/3D CAD design tools; familiarity with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD desired.

  • Strong understanding of electro-mechanical systems.

  • Strong organizational skills in project planning, design, and quality control.

    Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and to communicate effectively with team members, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.

    Education

  • BS/MS in Automation/Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other related engineering disciplines.
