Job Title: Postdoctoral Scholar in Microbial Ecology - CGLab, Department of Biological Sciences
Wage: $ 60,000 annually This is a Full Time, Non-Exempt, benefit eligible position.
Project Name: Regional influences on microbial assembly
Supervisor: Dr. Catalina Cuellar-Gempeler
Essential functions of the job: The successful applicant will perform microcosm experiments, conduct molecular work and chemical assays, run bioinformatic pipelines, generate and analyze data associated with the proposed work and contribute to scientific writing of products in this grant. Possible opportunities to develop complementary research avenues and participate in teaching and instruction in our department depending on resources and the applicants interests.
Minimum qualifications: to be considered, candidates must hold a PhD in Ecology, Microbiology, Genetics/Genomics or related fields and demonstrable skills in microbiology, molecular laboratory work (DNA and RNA extractions, PCR and qPCR, amplicon library prep, etc), coding (R and Python preferred), quantitative skills, scientific writing, and mentoring of diverse students. Desirable qualifications: authored peer reviewed publications in related fields, genomic data processing, multivariate statistics, microscopy, ecological theory, host-microbe interactions background, experience with pitcher plants
