Amergis LPN/LVN School 1.1 in Arcadia, California
The 1:1 School LPN/LVN identifies and treats healthdisorders among students in the school setting. The 1:1 School LPN/LVN providesinstruction for the student’s general wellbeing and disease prevention. TheSchool LPN/LVN monitors the student’s physical conditions in the school settingand refers the student to appropriate resources as needed. The work of the School LPN/LVN is performedin compliance with his/her LPN/LVN scope of practice and according to stateeducation codes.
Patient Care:
Provide direct, one-on-one care to assigned patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
Vital Signs Monitoring:
Regularly check and record patients' vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates.
Report any significant changes or abnormalities to the supervising nurse or physician.
Medication Administration:
Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and on schedule.
Monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects.
Patient Education:
Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
Provide guidance on nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle modifications to support recovery.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including care plans, progress notes, and medication logs.
Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner and complies with regulatory standards.
Communication:
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to coordinate care.
Participate in team meetings and care conferences to discuss patient progress and care strategies.
Emergency Response:
Respond promptly to patient emergencies, providing first aid or CPR as needed.
Follow established protocols for emergency situations and notify appropriate personnel.
Minimum Requirements:
Current LPN/LVN license for the state in which the nursepractices
Current PPD or Chest X-Ray
One year prior professional nursing experience in schoolsetting preferred
Pediatric experience preferred
Current BLS card
Considerable knowledge of medical disorders and treatment
Considerable knowledge of child growth and development
Some knowledge of public health problems and procedures fortreatment in coordination with other health and social service agencies
Some knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws andregulations affecting the delivery of school health services
Understands the school organization and the community served
Must be at least 18 years of age
