Providence Director Clinical Laboratory in Apple Valley, California
Description
THE ROLE
Responsible for all the functions of Laboratory Services including Clinical Laboratory, Pathology Services and Blood Bank. In conjunction with the Medical Center administration, ensures the provision of high quality laboratory services to all practitioners and patients using these services.
Age-Related Competencies: Neonate (birth-28 days), Infant (28 days-1 year), Child (1-12 years), Adolescent (13-18 years), Adult (18-64 years), Geriatric (65 years-death).
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of patient's status. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for the primary population of patients served in the department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Directs the team in the delivery of laboratory services, maintains collaborative working relationships in order to support the continuum of care.
Participates in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the departmental objectives.
Knows, complies, reviews and implements the applicable regulations, policies and procedures for the department operation.
Develops and manages the operating and capital budget for the department.
Maintains the laboratory information system.
Actively participates in Medical Center committees/projects as appropriate.
Provide direction and leadership in devising and completing performance improvement initiatives that focus on quality patient care, utilization of resources, and interfacing with laboratory services, as well as other departments throughout the hospital.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Biology
Master's Degree in Business Administration; or equivalent educ/experience (preferred)
Education/Experience Equivalencies - Business degree
Upon hire: National Certification from American Society for Clinical Pathology (Vendor Managed), or California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License California (Vendor Managed)
5 years of experience in an acute care facility
2 years of supervisory experience (preferred)
Good interpersonal relations and effective verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking and planning skills
Computer skills.
