Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

The Trade Compliance Analyst will be responsible for ensuring that the company complies with all applicable international trade laws and regulations. This includes monitoring and interpreting trade regulations, preparing documentation, conducting audits, and providing guidance on trade compliance matters to internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities :

Regulatory Compliance :

  • Monitor and interpret international trade regulations, including export/import laws, tariffs, and sanctions.

  • Ensure compliance with the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations, and other relevant trade laws.

Documentation and Reporting :

  • Prepare and maintain all necessary documentation for import/export activities.

  • Ensure accurate classification of products (US-MEX)

  • File necessary export/import declarations and licenses with government agencies.

Internal Audits and Training :

  • Conduct internal audits of trade compliance practices and procedures.

  • Identify and address areas of non-compliance and implement corrective actions.

  • Develop and deliver training programs for employees on trade compliance policies and procedures.

Risk Management :

  • Evaluate and mitigate risks related to international trade activities.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of trade compliance policies and procedures.

  • Provide guidance on potential compliance risks and recommend strategies to minimize exposure.

Collaboration and Communication :

  • Work closely with internal departments, including legal, logistics, procurement, and finance, to ensure compliance with trade regulations.

  • Serve as a point of contact for customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other external partners.

  • Respond to trade compliance inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications :

Education : Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.

Experience :

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Trade Compliance and Customs.

  • Experience with MEX and U.S. export/import regulations and international trade laws.

  • Experience on Annex 30 and Annex 24

  • Experience related to certifications as VAT, OEA and CTPAT.

Skills :

  • Strong understanding of international trade regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong Knowledge and management of SAP and Prisma Software

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • English bilingual.

Desired Qualifications :

  • Professional certification in International Trade Agreements

  • Experience in the management of an IMMEX

  • Knowledge of global trade management systems and ERP systems.

  • Inventory control
