Scope of Position:

This group develops and integrates the Controls and MES systems that enable Manufacturing to characterize and verify compliance of products manufactured and sold to our customers.

The Sr. Software Engineer uses computer science and software engineering principles to support initiatives in the development and sustainment of measurement platforms. The engineer needs strong technical curiosity across many technologies, the desire to learn new skills, and the desire to work with others for the progress of the business.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

-Work closely with team members and stakeholders to define, develop, and implement product measurement, controls, and data management systems for production environment.

-Use proven software development methodologies and support other members in the team

-Develop and support MES system software and interfaces for both front-end and back-end systems.

-Develop and support MES related system and software and interfaces for both front-end and back-end systems.

-Work with and support with groups, to maintain the security conformance of measurement and test systems in the production environment.

-Provide troubleshooting support for equipment and process issues during equipment installation and start-up phases, identify root cause, and implement corrective actions.

-Train engineering, maintenance, and operations resources to use and maintain measurement systems.

-Leverage external suppliers with key technologies or systems integration expertise to develop, procure, build, and install test applications in measurement platforms.

-Assure quality and repeatability of processes and MES systems software.

-Visibly support the establishment and maintenance of a safe work environment.

Required Education, Years and Area of Experience:

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls, Computer Systems, or Computer Science

• 5+ years of work experience in systems development, test equipment integration and/or software development.

Required Skills:

• Strong English and Spanish written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently without close supervision.

• Strong time management skills to be able to manage multiple projects and tasks in parallel.

• Strong initiative and self-motivated. Ambition and ability to independently fill gaps in knowledge and expertise through self-guided learning.

• Excellent problem-solving skills.

• Experience with manufacturing test systems and/or instrumentation

• Experience with computer-based measurement equipment setup and support.

• Knowledge and experience in software development for Windows based systems.

• Experience in client/server system development in an Oracle or SQL Server environment.

• Firm understanding of Oracle or SQL Server relational databases, their use, and SQL language elements.

• Experience in the design of relational database data structures including the use of indexes and triggers.

• Ability to interface with Oracle or SQL Server through either Stored Procedure calls or dynamic SQL.

• Ability to develop Oracle or SQL Server Stored Procedures, Functions, and Views.

• Experience in the use of proven software development methodologies, for example Agile.

• Experience in data acquisition system interfacing either through direct API calls, SCPI protocols, or other communication protocols.

• Experience in data acquisition system interfacing either through direct PLC tags calls and protocols.

• Develop and implement SCADA systems and related applications.

• Manage SCADA engineering projects, including planning, designing, programming, implementing, testing, and documenting.

• Ability to work in technical project teams in leadership and team member roles.

• Able to make sound decisions by blending analytical thinking with practical judgment.

• Accountable for actions/behaviors.

• Ability to work closely with internal customers to meet business requirements.

• Ability to work individually and on teams to execute projects on time, on budget, and with expected results.

• Ability to work in a multi-cultural team.

Desired Skills:

• Working knowledge of MES whit communication to different systems like SAP, Maximo(Maintenance) and Controls systems.

• Working knowledge of SAP.

• Working knowledge and experience in Python or C#.

• Experience in the use of Source Code Control systems, particularly Git repositories.

• Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.

• Experience in automate operations, product test methods, characteristics, and data acquisition hardware.

• Experience with image capture systems or machine vision systems (Like Keyence, Cognex, Omron).

• Demonstrated project management experience.

• Develop and implement SCADA systems and related applications.
