This position will work with Local, State and Federal law enforcement to receive and process electronic communication devices, and analyze and disseminate information relative to criminal investigations. This full-time, non-exempt, benefit-eligible position is located at the Anoka County Sheriff's Office in Andover and works directly within the Criminal Investigation Division and provides case support to the major crime detectives as well as other Anoka County law enforcement partners. Pay & Benefits Salary: $70,012 to $84,011 ($33.66 to $40.39 per hour) 2024 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 34: $70,012 to $98,009 ($33.66 to $47.12 per hour). 24 days of paid flexible time off and up to 11.5 paid holidays. Work Location This position will work at 13301 Hanson Blvd NW Andover, MN 55304 Expected work hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., but may include nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Schedule may vary based on business needs and at supervisor discretion. Job Duties and Responsibilities These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Crime Analyst Receive and process electronic communication devices relative to criminal investigations from law enforcement officials following chain of custody procedures, rules of evidence, and standards of the electronic cellular device forensics community. Use specialized equipment and software to search and extract data from a variety of electronic devices. Discuss and prepare a plan in coordination with the requesting law enforcement entity to meet case needs and identify areas in need of further investigative follow up. Establish and maintain professional working relationships with staff from the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, and state and federal prosecutors to facilitate open communications for the purposes of obtaining information to further criminal investigations, and share ideas pertaining to digital forensics, analytical methods, tools, and techniques. Perform data extractions, including duplicate image backup of the evidence received to preserve the state of those materials at the time of receipt. Prepare and organize recovered information in a suitable format for the requestor; complete clear and concise reports to inform the requestor of the nature of the examinations performed and the findings/conclusions attained and prepare and organize case materials and court exhibits for potential court procedures and testimony. Organize, catalog, and appropriately tore all investigative data related to electronic crimes. Validation of any equipment and software used for forensic examinations and become an expert using equipment and related technology necessary to extract evidence from electronic devices and make recommendations on the procurement of equipment and technology for agency use. Research, compile and map crime trends and patterns, perform crime analysis in support of law enforcement, detect and describe tactical, administrative, strategic links, patterns, and trends in crimes. Conduct communication analysis and prepare organizational, phone link, and timeline charts using various intelligence/investigative software applications. Monitor crime trends, identify emerging trends, officer safety issues and prepares strategic intelligence assignments. Creates timelines, flow charts, and link analysis to assist in solving investigations or to assist in analyzing intelligence information. Maintain continuous training of trends, technologies, and methodologies in criminal analysis and apply this knowledge to enhance investigative strategies and outcomes. Provide intelligence, operational pre-planning, and real-time support to search warrants and other operations, and engage in information sharing within the department and collaboration with other law enforcement agencies. Perform as a department resource for best practices in emerging investigative technologies and workflows. Assist patrol, investigative and administrative staff in planning the deployment of resources for the prevention, intervention, and suppression of criminal activities. Provide investigative case support to assist in narcotics and criminal investigations, gather, research, and analyze information to produce and disseminate information sharing bulletins and criminal information products. Prepare written reports, presentation, and conduct briefings to law enforcement and prosecutors pertaining to tactical, operational, and strategic intelligence. Produce reports, presentations and special projects using investigative, analytical tools and various software. Act as liaison to all Anoka County Sheriff's Office and neighboring law enforcement regarding crime analysis details, respond to inquiries from law enforcement and other agencies, testify in criminal prosecutions as needed, and performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements: Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed Bachelor's degree or higher in criminal justice, law enforcement, statistics, criminology, information technology, business administration, public administration, sociology, psychology, or a closely related field. OR Associate degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, statistics, criminology, information technology, business administration, public administration, sociology, psychology or a closely related field and one year (2,080 annual hours) of investigations, law enforcement, criminal analyst, or military analyst experience. OR High school diploma or equivalent education and two years (2,080 annual hours) of investigations, law enforcement, criminal analyst, or military analyst experience.
