DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The employee in this position serves as the Nurse for the Keystone State Challenge Academy (KSCA). Under the direct supervision of the Director, this employee performs duties of a Registered Nurse (RN) in planning, evaluating, and implementing care to KSCA Cadets for two 22-week residential cohorts. Provides KSCA with registered nursing (RN) services for between 100-140 youth ages 16-18 in a residential setting. Conducts daily sick call and makes skilled nursing assessments to address medical needs and concerns. After assessments, provides recommendations for treatment by ensuring the overall health and welfare of Cadets enrolled in the Academy.
The KSCA is one of the newest National Guard Bureau Youth ChalleNGe academies being established, providing a voluntary, residential, military-like, alternative education option for Pennsylvania's youth ages 16-18 seeking a high school diploma or equivalency.

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30 minute lunch. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Necessary Special Requirements: This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania. All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. If you are within 60 days of graduating from a school of nursing approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting. At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Registered Nurse license. You must have a First Aid and Safety Certificate from the American Red Cross, as well as a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
