Today’s dynamic global security threats require solutions both big and small – solutions living within the Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC). One of our most challenging new fields is Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA), which combines the unique properties of superconductivity and quantum mechanics to develop radical new energy-efficient computing systems. MDA is seeking a Staff Superconducting Interconnect Systems Lead with demonstrated ability to lead development of new technologies to support our innovative MDA team in support of emerging supercomputing technologies.

This position will serve on-site in Linthicum/ Annapolis Junction, MD .

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Superconducting materials design, fabrication, and test engineers to monitor, track, and verify that interconnect designs meet specifications.

  • Track new and emergent Superconducting materials to inform designs of interconnect solutions, methods, tools and techniques

  • Define system functional and performance requirements and collaborate on verification/validation approaches.

  • Facilitate internal and customer collaboration to capture and enhance engineering artifacts

  • Ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across multi‐functional teams to develop innovative solutions

  • Lead the trade study definition, metrics development and evaluations for the use of novel technologies to aid in the development of support tools and target transformational computing systems

  • Lead, establish, and enforce the adoption of standard processes, configuration management, and good engineering practices

  • Ensure system technical compliance with the program Statement of Work (SOW) and system requirements.

  • Manage the vertical and horizontal technical integration throughout the product teams and program life cycle.

  • Support the implementation of digital and mixed system architectures and algorithms

  • Manage risk and opportunity and the production of core engineering work products and track the work products and associated program dependencies in the program schedule.

  • Coordinate between the System Architect, Chief Engineer, Product Team Lead(s), program manager, and customer to ensure the integrity and executability of the program technical baseline.

Basic Qualifications forStaff Superconducting Interconnect Systems Lead:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with 12 years of related experience, or 10 years with a Master's Degree, or 8 years with a PhD.

  • Demonstrated Requirements Management from Elicitation to Verification.

  • Demonstrated experience with the full product life cycle (design, fabrication, and test)

  • Experience facilitating internal and customer collaboration to capture and enhance engineering artifacts

  • Demonstrated experience with the full product life cycle (requirements, design, implementation, and test)

  • Demonstrated Backlog Planning and Management.

  • Risk and Opportunity Management experience.

  • Candidates must be a US Citizen

  • Clearance: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph

Preferred Qualifications forStaff Superconducting Interconnect Systems Lead:

  • Advanced Degrees in Electrical, Materials, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or related technical fields

  • Multi-Disciplinary Engineering exposure (Software, Hardware, Electrical) and strong ability to communicate cross functionally.

  • Experience leading technical teams.

  • Experience with Earned Value Management

  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering processing from generation of an Integrated Master Plan (IMP) to Work Product Breakdown into Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) for the development of complex systems of systems.

  • Current Active DoD TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph

Salary Range: $157,500 - $247,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
