POSITION PORPOSE

  • Registered Nurse opportunity as a Nursing Education Coordinator (EC). The Nursing Educators facilitate staff competency in providing Relationship-Based Care by using adult learning principles, demonstrating interest in and respect for learners, and creating an environment of safety for both patients and colleagues.

  • The position supports the Trinity Health Ann Arbor (THAA) Surgical Services Department.

  • Full-Time Benefited position scheduled 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE).

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Work in collaboration with Employee Education & Development and other departments to assess, plan, develop, implement/coordinate, and evaluate the learning process and skill acquisition of colleagues, volunteers, students, and instructors of affiliating schools. Collaborative functions include the orientation process, preceptor development and programming, continuing education, staff development, mandatory education, and new product/new process education.

  • Facilitate Learning - Nurse Educators are responsible for creating an environment that facilitates participant learning and the achievement of desired cognitive, affective and psychomotor outcomes.

  • Facilitate Learner Development and Socialization - Nurse Educators recognize their responsibility for helping participant develop and integrate the values and behaviors expected.

  • Use Assessment and Evaluation Strategies - Nurse Educators use a variety of strategies (including simulation) to assess and evaluate participant learning.

  • Participate in Course/Program Design and Evaluation of Outcomes - Nurse Educators are responsible for formulating and evaluating course outcomes and designing courses / programs that reflect contemporary health care trends.

  • Function as a Change Agent and Leader- Nurse Educator's role model as change agents. Develops leadership skills to shape and implement change.

MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Michigan Nursing License

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree required.

  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years clinical nursing or leadership experience at the unit level in a related health care setting. (Operating Room, OR, Surgical Services).
