Responsibilities*
Investigate clusters or outbreaks of infection using fundamental statistics or data tools.
Develop, review, evaluate and implement infection prevention and control policies to improve quality of care.
Consult with department and administrative staff on infection prevention and control issues.
Represent department/team at unit/institutional meetings.
Intermediate Infection Preventionists make decisions within the scope of their responsibilities and collaborate with IPE mentors, accreditation agencies, health departments and high-level disinfection project manager on infection prevention-related issues.
Conduct IP assessments/rounding and perform coaching on infection prevention priorities such as The Joint Commission, hand hygiene and healthcare-associated infection prevention.
Participate in interdisciplinary quality improvement projects.
Collect, review, analyze and interpret surveillance data.
Recommend appropriate actions to clinicians and administrators targeted to eliminate infectious risks in patients and staff. Conduct activities related to exposure of patients and
Lead daily departmental huddles and other department level meetings
Participate in teaching opportunities in School of Public Health/School of Nursing or equivalent
Required Qualifications*
MPH with relevant classwork or experience in Infection Prevention, healthcare, public health, laboratory or related field
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Data collection and analysis, report writing and data presentation skills
Ability to use a variety of computer programs and software applications to apply epidemiologic principles
Desired Qualifications*
Board certified in Infection Prevention (CIC)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in infection prevention

Background Screening
