POSITION PORPOSE

  • Under the direction of the upline leader, the Grants Manager, Southeast Michigan (SEMI) is responsible for identifying opportunities and working with internal customers and external partners to develop funding proposals for grants from foundations, organizations, corporations, and government entities.

  • Full-Time benefited position based in Southeast Michigan. Hybrid opportunity must be able to be present at the regional office and visit Regional Health Ministries (RHM) throughout SEMI as needed.

MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor's degree and related experience with emphasis on writing; preferably in journalism, communications, marketing, public administration, public health, or related field.

  • Experience: Five or more years of experience in grant writing or grant making for a public or private entity, experience in health care or community benefit preferred.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • The Grants Manager, SEMI is charged with the responsibility of identifying both programmatic and capital needs through engaging Trinity Health SEMI leaders, service line Directors/Managers, and Philanthropy colleagues.

  • The position is responsible for the research, identification, development, writing, tracking, and stewardship of funding grant proposals in support of Trinity Health Michigan.

  • Exhibit exceptional written and verbal communication skills and capacity for detailed work.

  • Demonstrate ability to conceptualize projects that qualify for philanthropic funding, facilitate service line leaders and partners in building program foundations and details, and develop the programs or projects into compelling, professionally packaged proposals.

  • Demonstrate ability to plan, think, and act strategically, to understand overall goals of Trinity Health Michigan and how to leverage grant opportunities, and integrate grant opportunities with other fundraising opportunities (e.g., major gifts) that support the Trinity Health Michigan goals and achieve better results.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

  • Collaborates with and facilitates appropriate internal staff and external partners to design and/or articulate fundable projects and to develop proposals that match Trinity Health Michigan priorities with external funding opportunities.

  • Leads the drafting, review, assembly and submission of proposals, stewardship reports, and other documents to foundation, government, corporate, and internal sources.

  • Works closely with HM leadership and service line Directors/Managers to identify needs or programs that could be served through grant funding, and actively shares information with them about funding opportunities and potential matches with HM priorities.

  • Uses a wide variety of print and electronic reference sources to research funding opportunities and evaluates prospects for viability.

  • Records all relevant information in Philanthropy database/CRM.

  • Develops and writes grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations; persuasively communicates to potential funders how the grant program fulfills Trinity Health’s mission and priorities while also fulfilling the funder’s mission and priorities.

  • Coordinates and partners with grant writers across Trinity Health ministries to share information and identify cross-regional or national opportunities for grant programs and funding.
