Denali Universal Services (DUS) Security Officer: Office Building (Downtown) in Anchorage, Alaska
Description
The Security Officer is responsible to provide security and protection of work sites, personnel and assets of the Client including enforcing safety measures and preventing trespassing, unauthorized entry, theft, assault, vandalism, harassment, and other disruptive incidents from occurring. This may include operating a vehicle to perform patrol, inspection and/or incident response services.
This position is rotational , working a one week on / one week off schedule located in downtown Anchorage, Alaska. Must be available to work days or nights.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Displays courteous, respectful and professional interactions with the public and customers.
Performs searches of people, vehicles, vessels, buildings and large outdoor areas; guards property against damage, trespassing, unauthorized entry, theft, assault, vandalism, harassment, and other disruptive incidents from occurring.
Makes periodic rounds about buildings and grounds, examining doors, windows and gates to ensure they are properly secured while exercising sound judgement in determining appropriate action to be taken in changing situations, maintains composure and control in all situations with the ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner.
Effectively and coherently communicates over radio channels while initiating and responding to radio communications; may operate and monitor CCTV equipment.
May assist management and law enforcement officials in emergency situations, apprehending unauthorized persons found on the property, searching and seizing items and investigating suspected thefts or acts of vandalism.
Safely operates a motor vehicle in a variety of settings, day and night and during varying weather conditions.
Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 18 years of age
High School diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in private security, military or public law enforcement is preferred
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical requirements
Must meet criminal history and background requirements
Valid state driver’s license
State security officer certification or ability to obtain one
