GCI Communication Corp Project Controls Analyst III in Anchorage, Alaska

GCI's Project Controls Analyst III provides project support to Technology Solutions project management including but not limited to cost controls, asset management, risk analysis, change management, and performance monitoring, analysis, and reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AT ALL LEVELS:

Cost Controls:

  • Assist Project Team with preparation and management of project budgets, including cost estimates, forecasting, and variance analysis.

  • Coordinate financial forecasts and accruals with Project Team.

  • Collaborate with Project Team and Capital Accounting to create project codes in alignment with the cost breakdown structure and work breakdown structure.

  • Monitor costs and reclass from one cost code to another as necessary.

  • Work with Project Team to validate personnel authorized to charge the project.

  • Assist in the preparation of cost-benefit analyses and business cases.

Asset Management:

  • Collaborate with Capital Accounting and Project Team to place assets into service.

  • Resolve outstanding construction-in-progress and excess materials with Project Team, Capital Accounting, and Demand Planning.

Risk Analysis

  • Maintain a risk register and ensure it is regularly updated.

  • Conduct regular risk assessments with the Project Team, assisting with quantifying risk cost and schedule impact and developing mitigation strategies.

Change Management

  • Maintain a change log and ensure it is regularly updated.

  • Assist Project Team with quantifying change cost and schedule impact.

Performance Monitoring, Analysis, & Reporting

  • Monitor project performance against established metrics and benchmarks.

  • Identify trends and provide insights to improve project performance.

  • Provide regular reports and updates to Project Managers and stakeholders.

  • Technical Competencies:

  • Strong computer skills and MS Office knowledge (e.g., MS Project, Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and SharePoint) to complete job duties effectively and support all end users.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining sequel databases.

  • Working knowledge of project budgeting and scheduling.

  • General telephony network knowledge which may include switching, microwave, satellite, fiber transmission technologies or a related field.

Position Title: Project Controls Analyst III

Grade: E07

Additional Job Requirements:

This is an advanced level position requiring the ability to perform complex and diverse duties under

deadlines and operating constraints. Capable of performing the role of “Project Controls Analyst” for large projects and project portfolios. Requires ability to perform development and implementation of projects, programs, and procedures of general organizational impact. Must have the experience to provide functional/technical guidance to lower-level staff while fostering teamwork within area of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: *A combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the duties of the job may substitute to meet the total years required on a year-for-year basis

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, economics, industrial management/engineering or related field. *

  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in relevant field; to include project cost controls, project scheduling, or project management. *

Preferred:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • Telecommunications experience.

  • Other telecom industry or job specific certifications.

    Required at ALL Levels

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position may require access to reliable transportation for occasional travel between offices, worksites, or other locations as needed.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is primarily sedentary, requiring daily routine computer usage.

  • Work consists of simultaneous or overlapping deadlines in an environment of ever-changing technology and workforce development.

  • Travel to or within Alaska, including rural and remote sites throughout Alaska, may be required.

  • Travel may include small aircraft, harsh arctic conditions, and overnight stays in locations lacking more than basic services.

  • Ability to work shifts as assigned, work in standard office/home office setting, and operate standard office equipment.

  • Ability to accurately communicate information and ideas to others effectively.

  • Physical agility and effort sufficient to perform job duties safely and effectively.

  • Ability to make valid judgments and decisions.

  • Available to work additional time on weekends, holidays, before or after normal work hours when necessary.

  • Some weekend and holiday work may be required to meet deadlines and support remotely located personnel.

  • Must work well in a team environment and be able to work with a diverse group of people and customers.

  • Virtual workers must comply with remote work policies and agreements.

Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the core business hours to respond to an immediate emergency.
