Robert Half Payroll Clerk in Anaheim, California

Description

We are looking for a Payroll Clerk to join our team in Anaheim, California. Engaging in the construction industry, you will be instrumental in payroll processing, collecting payroll data and reviewing timesheets, issuing deductions, earnings and other statements to employees and updating payroll records regularly. This role offers an opportunity to transition from a contract to permanent employment.

Responsibilities:

 Maintains payroll information by collecting and entering data

 Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees by using timesheets, leave requests, hourly wage rates and other possible adjustments.

 Manage tax and withholding records and deductions for all federal, state, local or other corporate taxes that affect payroll amounts.

 Set up each individual new permanent with all the necessary forms, including direct deposit requests, W4 reports.

 Calculating payroll liabilities by determining employee taxes, including federal and state income and social security tax, and calculating employer’s payments for social security, unemployment and worker’s compensation

 Resolving payroll discrepancies and answering any employee payroll queries

 Maintaining all payroll operations according to company policies and procedures

 Processing and issuing W-2 forms to employees

 Preparing reports that include summaries of earnings, tax deductions, leave, compassionate leave and non-taxable wages.

 Answer questions regarding paychecks, withholding tax issues or wage adjustments from employees and help troubleshoot possible issues with pay.

 Follow and calculate all outside wage garnishment requests or judgments when required on an individual’s paycheck.

 Communicate payroll and tax updates to employees and management via newsletter or email on an as-needed basis.

 Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions job title and department/ division transfers

 Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information

Requirements

 Possess at least 2 years of experience in a payroll processing role

 Proficiency in bi-weekly payroll processing

 Familiarity with the construction industry

 Strong computer skills such as typing, system and software knowledge

 Knowledge of wage withholding orders

 Ability to operate accounting and payroll software programs  Accurate data entry skills with great attention to detail

 Communication

 Able to effectively read and interpret information.  Able to prioritize and plan work activities as to use time efficiently

 Must be organized, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality

 Dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and must be able to improve performance through management feedback

 Ethical Practice

 Ability to work independently in a time-sensitive environment

 Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with employees regarding their issues and concerns

 Data Entry Skills

 Confidentiality and respect for the privacy of employee records

 Ability to multitask in a stressful environment with specific deadlines
