The Team

The Tommy Hilfiger divisions are part of the main business drivers within Tommy Hilfiger Europe. Based in the Amsterdam European HQ, the team is split into 5 sub teams: Design, Product Development, Merchandising, Sourcing & Production &, Buying & Planning.

These 5 teams work together in an informal setting to create superbly styled and high-end quality products for the European consumer base. Tommy Hilfiger brands presents 4 collections per year (Spring, Pre-Fall, Fall and Pre-Spring).

The Position

As a Senior Technical Development Manager working as part of the wider technical team creating and executing seasonal collections. You will work closely with your direct reports to support in the development and planning of each seasonal collection and the personal and professional development of the team. You will also work directly support the Technical Development Director on team projects, technical team long term strategy and all additional business required assignments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will lead a team of Pattern designers and Technical developers with whom you will work closely and support to achieve the seasonal design vision across their respective product categories and collections.

  • Liaise closely with department and divisional leads throughout the development process advising on best practices, fit and quality.

  • Guide and support team members with time management planning to ensure all divisional calendar deadlines are met.

  • Oversee the fit and workmanship quality of all product within your scope, working closely with offshore teams and vendors to maintain and improve quality.

  • Play an active role in driving, creating and defining the technical team development.

  • Actively contribute to the development or enhancement of our SOP’s.

  • Take part in and/or lead divisional projects under the technical development pillar as needed.

  • Lead divisional fit and block review presentations.

  • Take regular factory visits to oversee and support the development process from proto to salesman samples.

  • Work closely with offshore team managers to ensure efficiencies and product ownership is maintained.

  • Support the onboarding of new vendors to ensure fit and quality standards are met.

  • Manage team member’s personal development and performance plans.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 10+ years’ experience in the technical development of apparel with a pattern making background.

  • Experience with both woven and knit product.

  • Has experience in leading a team and has an interest in the development and performance of team members while being strong team players themselves.

  • Must have good organization and management skills with the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.

  • Strong technical and manufacturing knowledge across all product categories is essential.

  • Interest and/or experience in Gerber is preferred.

  • Should have a keen eye for detail, fit and quality and be willing to share knowledge.

  • Should have excellent communication skills, be results driven and self-motivated.

  • Candidate should enjoy problem solving and have a passion for getting things done.

  • Must be available to travel at least 4-6 times a year.

  • Will work on PLM, CAD (Gerber) & Browzwear if needed. Existing experience is beneficial however training will be provided.

  • Business English fluency (both written and verbal)

  • Is able to work in a highly productive, sometime hectic environment with a hands-on mentality
