Amazon Front-End Engineer II, AWS IDEs, Cloudshell in Amsterdam, Netherlands

Description

We're looking for a passionate Front-end Engineer for our team in Amsterdam, Netherlands. As part of the AWS CloudShell team, you will own the front-end software development of user interfaces for AWS CloudShell. We are stewards of good branding and design and hold a high bar for the customer’s experience.

As a Front-end Engineer, you'll build, operate, and deliver delightful user experiences to our customers at a globe scale to millions of users in dozens of languages.

You'll specialize in building accessible, responsive and elegant applications for web and native mobile applications that meet our customers and business needs.

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Key job responsibilities

  • Use your web development expertise to build delightful web user interfaces for our customers.

  • Work in a cooperative team environment and enjoy working through complex and ambiguous problems.

  • Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and UX designers across the organization.

  • Enhance our operational excellence by continuously measuring and improving the performance, security and availability of the products owned by your team.

  • Define, implement and measure operational and business KPIs.

  • Participate in on-call rotation

A day in the life

You will contribute to set the long-term vision, explore new opportunities, and experiment with the latest front-end technologies. You will interact with our customers to learn about their needs and support them. You will contribute to the hiring process and mentor more junior engineers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience (non-internship) in professional front end, web or mobile software development using JavaScript, HTML and CSS

  • Experience in computer science fundamentals (object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving and complexity analysis)

  • Experience using JavaScript frameworks such as angular and react

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in agile software development methodology

  • Experience with common front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JS, TypeScript, and Node
