Veralto Test Strips Lead, 2nd shift, Onsite - Ames, IA in Ames, Iowa

The Test Strips Lead will assist the Area Manger with a host of administrative functions, to include but not limited to directing the priorities of work for the other associates in the department. Quality verification, training, and resolving issues/inaccuracies with orders. May also float positions and change over machine setups.

Monday through Thursday, 3:15 pm -1:45 am. Overtime might be required.

In this role, a typical day will look like:

  • Able to communicate and train associates on proper use of equipment and safety policies and ensure proper PPE (personal protective equipment) is available and in use for each employee.

  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts in support of lean processes and lead problem solving teams or kaizen events.

  • Ensure appropriate controls Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and visual management tools are in place and up to date for effective operations within area (mini-factory) of responsibility.

  • Able to recognize points of failure in the flow of production and drive to implement countermeasures, escalate, or recommend solutions.

  • Assist area manager in the training of new associates.

  • Provide performance feedback to area manager on team members.

  • Assist area manager in planning overtime hours and maintaining attendance logs.

  • Fill in as needed for absences in the following areas: Product assembly, picking and packaging. Perform machine set-up and operation of equipment. Trouble-shoot, perform small repairs and some maintenance of complex and/or high-speed machines/processes.

  • Audit and inspect orders before staging and shipping. Audits include checking for proper labeling and verifying that the documents match the cartons packed.

  • Work collaboratively with Material Handlers to ensure that all lines are pre-staged with materials and ready for production.

  • Identify, report, and correct any/all inventory discrepancies. Escalate inventory inaccuracies to inventory control.

  • Work collaboratively with Test Strip Leadership to identify, initiate, and close out NCN paperwork.

  • Work collaboratively with Test Strip Leadership and IT Support Teams to report and resolve any/all IT/IS (Information Technology/Information System) shortfalls and/or stoppages.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 1 year of leadership experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a production environment.

  • Mechanical experience preferred.

  • Possess necessary computer skills to utilize and maintain required manufacturing software systems.

Employees will be required to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which may include: eye, hearing and respiratory protection, protective smock, steel toe shoes, gloves, hard hats, or face shields. Contact lenses are not be allowed.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $27.00 - $27.00 USD per hour. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
