Join us at Ames CSD, where your talents are recognized, and you have the opportunity to grow in a supportive and dynamic community.Ames High School is seeking two Science Olympiad Sponsors for the 2024-2025 school year to lead an engaging Science Olympiad program for high school students of all ability levels. Onsite work required.Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Recruits and retains students for the Science Olympiad program.
Conducts coaching and instruction activities during training, practice and competition.
Maintains an accurate roster of student participants.
Conducts an equitable selection of the science olympiad team members that aligns with the goals of Ames High School and Ames Community School District.
Ensures that the student members understand the expectations of the organization, represent excellence within the school, and serve as role models for the student body.
Ensures that a channel of continuous communication exists between team members, parents, faculty and administration.
Facilitates students' understanding of various science content events.
Supervises students during practices and competitions.
Schedules activities for the purpose of making necessary arrangements for practices and competitions.
Organizes and executes fundraisers according to Ames Community School District policies and procedures.
Plans for travel and promotes and attends competitions.
Maintains positive relationships with event supervisors, competition directors, and volunteers.
Maintains a variety of documents including attendance records, health forms, team rosters, event schedules, and practice schedules.
Creates a sense of belonging and a welcoming environment for all students and staff.
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient functioning of the team.
The successful candidate will exhibit:
Knowledge in and ability to follow the guidelines, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Ames Community School District.
Experience working with high school students preferred.
