Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Center for Nondestructive Evaluation (CNDE) at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for a Postdoc Research Associate position. The CNDE teams with industrial and government sponsors who help guide the research at CNDE and share the results. CNDE has a long history of working with industry to provide cost-effective tools and solutions, which address relevant problems for a variety of industrial sectors and applications. This position will be responsible for the specific area of research (modeling and experimental) in the microwave and millimeter wave (300 MHz-300 GHz) area. Candidates must have an excellent working knowledge of experimental and theoretical wave propagation, modeling particularly pertinent to characterization of feed stock materials (i.e., polymers and metal powders) used in additive manufacturing (AM).

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of both experimental and theoretical microwave and millimeter wave engineering, with specific focus on NDE.

  • Demonstrated experience in analytical and numerical modeling of complex wave propagation in material media at microwave and millimeter wave frequency ranges, for a variety of NDE applications including materials characterization relevant to additive manufacturing (AM) materials (e.g., polymers and metal powders, etc.).

  • Demonstrated experience with experimental microwave and millimeter wave measurement systems and methodologies, particularly with state-of-the-art vector network analyzers (VNAs).

  • High working knowledge and experience with various relevant microwave and millimeter wave laboratory experimentation.
