Job Description:

We’re seeking a qualified and experienced Insulator to join our Facilities Planning and Management team! In this role, you’ll apply journeyman-level skills to insulate pipes, ducts, tanks, and other essential systems, using materials such as glass, wool, and Gilsulate. You will be collaborating with other trades and contractors to ensure duties are met, contributing to the smooth operation of our facilities.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

• Insulates steam distribution systems, hot water tanks, cold water lines, chill water lines, drain lines, duct lines, disposal lines, and other related lines using glass, wool, mud, insulation paste, steel wool, tin, plastic, and Gilsulate insulation.

• Reads and interprets blueprints and drawings.

• Performs or assists in the performance of the duties of Plumber and Steamfitter, as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of preventive maintenance necessary for equipment and ability to maintain appropriate records.

• Knowledge of proper lifting and bend techniques and ability to lift 80 pounds.

• Ability to operate tools and equipment safely which are used in insulation.

• Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, equipment specifications, schematics, and engineering/architectural concept statements.

• Ability to work in a variety of environments including confined spaces, low light areas, at height, and exposure to temperature extremes, radiation, and toxic chemicals.

• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

• Ability to maintain accurate records and inventory of supplies.
