If so, The Department of Conference Planning and Management with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is seeking qualified candidates for an Event Planner II!

Conference Planning and Management (CPM) offers customizable event planning services designed to make the customer's vision a reality, no matter the size or type of event. Our professional planners collaborate closely with the customer to design an event road map tailored to the specific conference goals. Whether the event is on campus, across the state, or nationwide, our team has it covered. From setting conference goals and budget development to the payment of bills and everything in between, CPM’s experienced team handles all the details. Through collaboration with key departments and vendors, CPM ensures best practices and compliance with university policies. Whether it's hosting a conference, workshop, or special gathering, CPM’s expertise and commitment to excellence makes event planning stress-free. CPM will handle the logistics while the customer focuses on the big picture.

This position will coordinate all event planning functions and services required by varying complexity conferences and events through the office of Conference Planning and Management. The position will work directly with client, vendors, and providers through all stages to plan and execute the event, including facility and event logistics, registration, transportation, speaker, sponsor, exhibitor management, special events/tours, etc. Planners are client facing through the entire process from budget development and tracking finances to on-site management. This position will work with clients to plan virtual, hybrid, or face-to-face meetings or events.

This position will also be responsible to assist with developmental efforts for department. This includes responding to RFP’s, creating budgets and proposals and representing CPM to University.

The successful candidate must possess exceptional professional and organizational skills. Considerable creativity, tact, diplomacy, flexibility and advocacy are necessary to work with clients, boards, committees and a wide range of service providers.

Due to the nature of position, this person must be flexible and willing to work non-traditional hours including occasional weekends and evenings as needed for events.

While this position is based out of Ames, it will require travel between event locations and around the university. Driving will be required in this role.
