Role Definition

We have a very exciting opportunity to join our growing Production scheduling group in our EPD Power Solutions team, our business is growing significantly and as we onboard new suppliers and new capacity we want a highly motivated, high energy production planner to help us manage the demand across multiple sources. This person will schedule, coordinate, and control the production schedules for multiple manufacturing footprints they will review and manage the production process efficiency and balance requirements as needed.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing and troubleshooting planned production scheduling problems.

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve product-related issues and incorporate customer and business requirements.

• Directing complex production schedules; reviewing workflow of production workers, inventory levels, capacity constraints, machine breakdowns, product quality, etc. to ensure operational excellence.

Skill Descriptors

Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP): Knowledge of the processes, practices and systems used in manufacturing requirements planning (MRP); ability to optimize planning for manufacturing cycles and ensure capacity and materials availability. Knowledge of SAP, EOMP, MRC and other CAT systems would be desirable.

Level Extensive Experience:

• Monitors total plant production scheduling vis-a-vis orders.

• Evaluates considerations for synchronizing demand for products with production capabilities.

• Participates in sequencing work to meet targeted delivery dates for multiple and critical orders.

• Coordinates capacity and materials planning for net demand within a planning period.

• Adjusts plans based on sales forecasts, custom orders and demand-driven orders.

Production Scheduling and Control: Knowledge of procedures and tools for scheduling and controlling production runs; ability to utilize knowledge of daily manufacturing processes to assure quality deliverables. Experience in Microsoft Excel, Power BI and tableau would be highly desirable.

Level Extensive Experience:

• Manages the job cycle to ensure completion of jobs according to agreed-upon schedules.

• Communicates with customers and sales staff on scheduled and unscheduled production work.

• Resolves critical or costly workflow problem areas and recommends improvements.

• Produces master schedules for overall plant activities; shows all dependencies and contingencies.

Forecasting: Knowledge of forecasting tools, approaches and practices; ability to determine product demand and estimate production requirements and loads.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Participates in preparation of short-term forecasts for a specific product or site.

• Gathers and analyzes demand data with specific tools and procedures.

• Locates useful information and sources of input used in weekly, monthly and quarterly forecasts.

• Researches seasonal trends for a major product or product line.

• Explains common types of business conditions and activities that impact demand.

Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.

Level Extensive Experience:

• Develops, refines, and communicates tactical plans for own responsibilities.

• Provides the right level of detail as input for strategic plan development.

• Ensures attention to the detail and dependencies of existing departmental-level plans.

• Ensures the planning process is integrated with the overall business plan.

Process Management: Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Employs process flows, cycle time, process time and waste concepts as appropriate.

• Walks through steps, decisions, measurements, dependencies and hand-offs for a specific process.

• Creates process flow or work flow diagrams.

• Documents types of process decisions and potential impact of each decision.

• Identifies and monitors common process bottlenecks.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Delivers helpful feedback that focuses on behaviors without offending the recipient.

• Listens to feedback without defensiveness and uses it for own communication effectiveness.

• Makes oral presentations and writes reports needed for own work.

• Looks for and considers non-verbal cues from individuals and groups.

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

• Ensures capture of lessons to be learned from a problem-solving effort.
