Talen Energy SUMMER 2025 Intern – Environmental Liability Management (Major Projects) in Allentown, Pennsylvania

Talen Energy’s Environmental Liability Management division is seeking an Environmental Project Engineering Intern for the of Summer 2025.

The successful candidate will be a temporarily employed full-time college student in an accredited four-year institution of higher learning. Talen Energy’s internship program is designed to give college students practical work experience in their field of study. The program often helps students determine career interests. Beyond the scope of the actual tasks performed, intern students become familiar with a corporate environment and gain practical skills and knowledge to supplement the classroom experience.

Reporting to Talen Energy's Environmental Liability Management/Major Projects organization, the selected intern will have the opportunity to work with seasoned professionals as part of existing environmental projects team and focus on emergent work in the energy field, as well as independently work on assigned tasks. The position will involve both field and office work.

The primary work location will be Allentown, PA. However, day travel to power plants with the Talen fleet, located in PA/MD/NJ, is a requirement and should be expected.

The individual’s employment will include, but not be limited to, work on environmental project implementation, groundwater analysis and reporting, environmental and project research, performing field activities under supervision (i.e., civil engineering project oversight and groundwater sampling), reviewing vendor qualifications, and participating in project meetings.

Talen Energy’s 2025 Summer Environmental Liability Management intern will operate in a team environment applying interpersonal, communications, and technical skills and, and demonstrating leadership qualities.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled at the time of application in an ABET accredited college or university program.

  • Must be enrolled at the time of application in a curriculum leading to a Baccalaureate degree in the environmental field (e.g., Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Geology, etc.).

  • Must be enrolled at the time of application on a full-time basis (12 semester hours).

  • Must possess an acceptable overall (cumulative) grade point average, no lower than 3.0.

  • Must be eligible to work in accordance with Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS) regulations.

  • Must be able to provide an official student transcript and other required information.

  • Must be willing and able to travel to Talen fleet power plants as necessary (from 30 minutes to 2.5 hours of base location).

  • Must be able to successfully complete required background clearance and drug screening.

  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited environmental or science program focused on geology or civil engineering.
