Senior Accountant

A client of ours is looking for a Senior Accountant for a contract role. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial reporting processes and will be responsible for managing complex accounting tasks across multiple entities. You will also be responsible for auditing balance sheet items to ensure they are properly supported, and accounting treatment is consistent and accurate. This also includes assisting in the execution of the annual financial and other audit engagements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in auditing, multi-entity inter-company accounting, and consolidation.

Responsibilities of Senior Accountant

  • Lead the audit process, including coordinating with external auditors and preparing audit schedules and documentation

  • Perform multi-entity inter-company accounting activities, including reconciliations, eliminations, and settlements

  • Prepare annual financial audit workpapers and provide assistance to external auditors.

  • Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures

  • Prepares accounting analysis, reconciliations, and audits as assigned

  • Manage the consolidation process for multiple entities, including preparing consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules

  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies

  • Review and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial planning and analysis

  • Assist with special projects and ad-hoc financial analysis as needed

  • Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends

    Requirements

Skills/Qualifications of Senior Accountant

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in in accounting, with a focus on auditing, multi-entity inter-company accounting, and consolidation

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations, including GAAP

  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with team members

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
