Summary
Performs inventory, cleaning, sterilizing, and replenishing equipment and supplies and identifies equipment due for preventative maintenance and places work orders for repair. Oversees the process of equipment handling and disinfection of reusable respiratory critical care equipment.
Job Duties Assists in the pick-up and collection of soiled patient equipment to the designated cleaning area. Assists in the turnover and set-up of equipment by cleaning all patient care equipment, performing appropriate self-diagnostic tests on equipment, and ensuring all needed equipment is available for patient care/procedures. Inspects, monitors, and verifies patient medical equipment is in good working condition. Ensures proper functioning of respiratory equipment by providing functional safety testing of all critical care life support equipment. Redistributes cleaned patient medical devices upon request by a respiratory therapist and to an established equipment location/unit to maintain par levels. Manages medical gas cylinders and ensures safe storage and transport. Orders, tracks, and monitors equipment inventory and rental equipment program. Minimum Qualifications Must be 18 years old or older Ability to interact with many levels of healthcare professionals and the general public. Ability to adhere to infection control guidelines related to cleaning clinical equipment. Ability to pay attention to detail in equipment assembly and when checking for proper operation. Understanding of computers and ability to learn new software support. Preferred Qualifications Maintenance training from respective vendors for life support equipment maintenance. Computer training on Lawson and Score Sleep Software. Physical Demands
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
