Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Data Scientist II with quantitative and data analytics experience in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our team! Role Summary: This role will support and drive growth within the Advanced Analytics team, which is focused on using quantitative models to support business decisions. This is an exciting role to participate in a developing department and to shape how Advanced Analytics is used to support Buckeye's safety, operations, and financial goals in multiple lines of business. Responsibilities & Essential Functions include: Partner with Subject Matter Experts in various lines of business to identify opportunities to apply quantitative methods, automated solutions, and analytical frameworks to improve business performance and process efficiencies Use foundational data science methodologies and input from Subject Matter Experts to identify relationships/drivers in data assets to improve key metrics of safety, predictive failure detection, asset performance, and financial forecasting Build, test, document, and deploy ML (machine learning), DP (deep learning), AI (artificial intelligence), models to produce value from data assets Maintain a sustainable environment to validate that the models continue to work effectively and with up-to-date model documentation Prepare visualizations, and example output to demonstrate and explain model behavior, performance, and limitations to non-analytical team members and Subject Matter Experts Organize datasets for analysis from a variety of formats such as databases, technical and natural text documents, spreadsheets, time history, and images Normalize, and prepare data as necessary prior to exploration, visualization, analysis, modeling, and prediction And other duties as assigned. Position Requirements: 5+ years of experience in analytical data modeling of equipment reliability, finance, or econometrics. 5+ years of experience with various databases, data historians, and data query tools, such as OSISoft, ESRI, MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL, etc. Master's Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Engineering, Finance, Physics, or related discipline is preferred.  A Bachelor's degree is required. Experience with DevOps, Python, Azure ML, Databricks, MS Fabric or other machine learning and/or statistical software Ability to clearly convey modeling results to a wide range of audiences 5+ years of experience in the midstream oil & gas industry is preferred. Travel Requirements: Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally Certificates & Licenses: Microsoft Certifications are preferred Other Skills, Attributes and Abilities: Strong communication skills in written, verbal, and presentation formats Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail Excellent time-management skills Ability to form relationships with others, unders and their needs and work as part of a team Excellent ability to organize and document work processes. Ability to learn quickly and manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment Other Essential Functions: This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards. This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. This position requires compliance with all personnel policies. Physical & Safety Requirements: The person in this position needs to occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. This role continuously operates a computer and other office productivity equipment (i.e. a calculator, copy machine and computer printer).
