Amergis 3-11 Sitter in Allentown, Pennsylvania
Amergis Healthcare Staffing is looking for compassionate Sitter Companions in the medical field to provide assistance to patients with daily living tasks, under the supervision of a registered nurse. Qualified Sitter Companions will work closely with patients and will be responsible for basic care services such as bathing, grooming and feeding, assisting nurses with medical equipment, and checking patient vital signs.
Responsibilities:
Provides companionship by reading, listening and talking with client.
Reports changes in client’s condition or unusual occurrences to the Facility Supervisor.
Adheres to Amergis policies and procedures, as well as, safety guidelines.
Other Sitter Companions duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Prefer a minimum of six months experience as a Sitter Companion or personal care provider.
Full command, verbal and written, of the English language.
Current Health Certificate (if applicable).
Current PPD or Chest X-Ray.
Current CPR card.
Relevant certification/ license if applicable.
Successful completion of screening test(s)
6 months geriatric experience required
references proving they did this type of work required
Point Click Care experience required
Why a resident may need a sitter:
Fall risk:
For patients with mobility issues or balance problems who are at high risk of falling.
Behavioral issues:
If a resident exhibits disruptive or aggressive behavior due to dementia or other cognitive impairments.
Wandering tendencies:
To prevent residents from getting lost or wandering out of the facility.
Medical monitoring:
To closely observe vital signs or specific medical conditions requiring constant attention.
Anxiety or distress:
Providing comfort and reassurance to patients experiencing anxiety or distress.
Post-surgical care:
To monitor patients recovering from surgery who may need extra supervision.
What a sitter does:
Constant observation: Keep an eye on the patient's behavior and movements.
Fall prevention: Assist with getting up and down, walking, and preventing falls.
Alerting staff: Immediately notify nurses of any changes in condition, concerns, or emergencies.
Providing companionship: Engage with the patient to reduce anxiety and provide emotional support.
