ROUSH Calibration Engineer I in Allen Park, Michigan

Job Summary:

The Calibration Engineer I will be responsible for developing powertrain calibrations for future automotive products. The role will support the design and development of powertrain hardware, controls software, and other vehicle systems. The Calibration Engineer I will be mentored and supported by team members on project work and customer interactions. This position will be located in Allen Park, MI.

As a Calibration Engineer I, you will:

  • Carry out dynamometer and/or vehicle-based calibration development.

  • Perform hot climate, cold climate, and high-altitude development testing to meet customer objectives.

  •  Analyze test results and review findings with team members to calibrate the powertrain control system.

  •  Coordinate instrumentation and test equipment setup

  • Calibrate all aspects of powertrain function, including core engine and transmission control features, electronic throttle control and reliability monitor, OBDII, tailpipe and evaporative emissions and auxiliary subsystems.

  • Provide positive technical contributions in a project team environment.

    To be considered a Calibration Engineer I, you will need:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar field.

  • No previous experience required.

  • Able to read and interpret controls algorithms presented in MATLAB Simulink or C-based software documentation

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite

  • Basic knowledge of powertrain system operating principals

  • Good intrapersonal, verbal and written communication skills

    A successful candidate may also have:

  • Experience using commercially available calibration tool software (e.g., ETAS INCA, ATI VISION) and engine dynamometer-based mapping or hardware development experience

  • Experience with the experimental method, data analysis and reporting obtained through coursework or work experience

  • Ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle

  • Data processing with MATLAB and automated script writing

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
