Patent and Trademark Office Training Program Specialist in Alexandria, Virginia

Summary Competitive career detail not-to-exceed one (1) year. Detailee(s) will be selected to serve for an initial 120 day period which may be extended in increments of 120 days, up to one (1) year. Primary duties will be at the USPTO's Alexandria Campus. Hoteling is not available during this detail. The work schedule for this detail will entail 40 hours per week. This is a full-time detail requiring you to work at least 1 day per week in the office (days to be determined) on an as needed basis. Responsibilities The individual(s) selected for this detail will perform a wide variety of duties including leading logistical support for training programs held at GIPA and internationally. The individual(s) selected will be required to coordinate with internal teams in OPIA and USPTO, as well as coordinate with USG partner agency staff, private sector, foreign government organizations, and U.S. embassies worldwide. The detail is open to all eligible GS-12 and GS-13 non-supervisory USPTO employee(s). This detail is only open to employees outside of 1220, 1223, 1224 and 1226 job series. When applying to this detail, please apply to your current grade level only. You will be selected at the grade of your position of record. Higher level pay for this detail assignment is not authorized. The duties for this position will include: Planning, coordinating, and overseeing all logistical aspects of all Policy and International Affairs conferences and training programs Fostering oral and written communication among supporting personnel and management. The individual(s) selected must ensure a high degree of responsiveness to organizational leadership, the public, and internal and external customers. Planning and conducting necessary meetings with staff and organizers to discuss and monitor ongoing work, budgetary projections, schedules and deadlines, and any other issues related to the work. Using sound judgment to analyze and evaluate relevant information. Executing each event fully and satisfactorily. Researching and assessing vendors and support services. Conferring with other USPTO offices to ensure that all aspects of Policy and International Affairs' events meet the established legal and contractual requirements. Analyzing technological requirements to support hybrid and virtual events. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications As indicated above, this detail is open to all current non-probationary, non-supervisory GS-12 and above USPTO employees, with at least a Fully Successful in the most recent performance rating. Candidates must possess the following: Experience providing logistical support to large-scale in-person, hybrid, and virtual events. Excellent organizational, research, and writing skills. Ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities. Excellent oral communication. Experience leading a team and providing clear oral and/or written direction. Education Additional Information Please be advised that this detail is a career development opportunity only; selectee will be assigned to the detail position at his/her current grade level. More than one selection may be made. This is a competitive career detail not-to-exceed one (1) year. Detailee(s) will be selected to serve for an initial 120 day period which may be extended in increments of 120 days, up to one (1) year. Primary duties will be at the USPTO's Alexandria Campus. The detail is scheduled to begin as soon as possible. The work schedule for this detail will entail 40 hours per week. Hoteling is not available during this detail. This is a full-time detail requiring you to work at least 1 day per week in the office (days to be determined) on an as needed basis. Priority for selection will be given to those qualified candidates who have not had a career development detail or those with the least amount of service on a career development detail within the last four (4) years. Except in extraordinary circumstances, an employee shall not serve on a career development detail a second time in the same area. For candidates who are currently a member of a bargaining unit (Union), if selected, these detail hours are not considered production related for award purposes. This is a non-bargaining unit position.
