Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is looking for a Senior FPGA Design Engineer to join our team in Albuquerque, NM .

The Boeing Laser and Electro-Optical Systems (LEOS) organization is dynamic and growing with a leadership team focused on attracting and developing top talent in support of critical missions for national defense involving Directed Energy .

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Level 4 & Level 5 FPGA Design Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform FPGA design on single or multi-FPGA programs working on small or large teams consisting of other FPGA designers, verification engineers, and project engineers

  • Support FPGA development projects requiring early proof of concept designs as well as high assurance / safety critical FPGA development programs requiring very high robust FPGA performance

  • Collaborate with system engineers, hardware engineers, and software engineers to drive requirements capture and architect digital logic functions to meet mission/customer needs

  • Drive robustness and rigor into early adopter technology solutions that lack sufficient level of capability for use in high assurance / safety critical Avionics solutions

  • Engage in FPGA/Hardware first time power up and as needed during system, software, hardware, and FPGA lab integration

  • Contribute to continuously improving upon our FPGA Design processes to keep pace with the latest technologies and high assurance methodologies and tools

  • Lead analysis of customer and system requirements and development of architectural approaches and detailed specifications for various electronic products

  • Lead development of high-level and detailed designs consistent with requirements and specifications

  • Lead reviews of testing and analysis activity to assure compliance to requirements

  • Identifies, tracks and statuses technical performance measures to measure progress and ensure compliance with requirements

  • Lead activities in support of Supplier Management with make/buy recommendations and other technical services

  • Coordinate engineering support throughout the lifecycle of the product

  • Plan research projects to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements

  • Work under minimal direction

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required

This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5+ years’ experience working with Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA)

  • 5+ years of experience with FPGA implementation with VHDL

  • 5+ years of educational and/or work experience working with digital ASIC/FPGA design and verification

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Typical Education/Experience:

(Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

(Level 5)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range (Level 4): $118,150 - $159,850

Summary pay range (Level 5): $145,350 - $196,650
