Your Opportunity
Stantec’s thriving Chandler, Arizona environmental and brownfield revitalization practices are looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our team. Our Chandler-based Environmental Services team is growing, and we have a need for an assistant project/grants manager with 15 to 20 years of experience in an environmental field or community program development with an interest in community revitalization and healthfields. Looking for self-motivated, outgoing person with a willingness to accept responsibility for professional management of federal, state and local grants and diverse projects for municipalities, government, and quasi-governmental organizations and nonprofits. Ability to work with existing team members and a variety of clients to help plan and implement exciting strategies designed to revitalize communities, improve economic development and resiliency and ensure a long-term thriving environment that encourages business innovation and resident participation in decision making.
Well-qualified candidates will have experience/familiarity in implementing and managing environmental projects and grants. Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical, as is an understanding of effective project management concepts and approaches. This position does not require field work other than attendance at an occasional public meeting and allows for a flexible work environment allowing the right candidate to work from home. This position may include occasional attendance at community outreach and engagement activities and events.
Your Key Responsibilities
Manage environmental due diligence, assessment, cleanup, and revitalization projects with attention to safety, quality, detail, budget, and deadlines
Manage preparation of environmental work plans, Phase I ESA reports, budgets, schedules
Ability to prepare spreadsheets, reports, invoices, newsletters and fact sheets, etc.
Assist with preparing grant applications to fund environmental (brownfield), community revitalization, and healthfield projects
Assist with community outreach and engagement
Develop and assist with community implementation of healthfield plans
Assist with managing grants and helping clients and Stantec project managers meet and comply with government reporting requirements
Interact and effectively communicate with team members, subcontractors, and clients
Coordinate multiple tasks at once
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
15-20 years of progressively responsible experience in environmental project management, public and community health, assessment and/or remediation
Self-starting, team-oriented problem solver
Strong research, analysis, and grant writing skills
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Prior community outreach and engagement experience a plus
Good driving record and valid driver’s license required
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, engineering, public health, public policy, planning, English, political science or a related field with masters degree a plus
15-20 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Majority of time spent in office environment with prolonged sitting and computer work, or combination of office and field. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
