OverviewThe Companies of J.J. Young is looking for qualified and skilled candidates for the Victim and Survivor Support Advocate position. Our client is a non-profit located in Albany that offers social services and support for our local underrepresented communities. The client is looking for candidates that work well with people of all orientations. A personal mode of transportation is required to travel to events. Position Overview:The client is seeking a Victim and Survivor Support Advocate to provide counseling and support to victims of domestic violence. Candidates should have experience in case work, crisis management, and/or domestic violence counseling. Candidates should also be culturally competent and familiar with the LGBTQ+ community.Responsibilities:•Provide crisis intervention and support through hotline counseling and support through difficult times•Help clients secure and maintain safe appropriate housing and provide guidance on available resources•Form relationships with community partners to refer domestic violence survivors to partners for guidance•Ensure program grant objectives and outcomes are met, aligning with the client’s mission and strategic goals•Promote health, wellness, and self-determination•Keep detailed case notes and manage the domestic violence referral line while upholding confidentiality•Train service providers how to effectively care for and support survivorsQualifications:•Bachelors in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field, Masters is a plus•Minimum one year of social type work with a diverse array of individuals•Experience in housing advocacy, crisis intervention, and/or social services•Time management skills and ability to multi-task•Networking, relationship building, communication, and customer service skills•Paid counseling experience, preferably for people of different orientations and domestic abuse survivors•Bilingual skills (Spanish, Haitian Creole) are highly desirable and preferred
Minimum Salary: 46,500 Maximum Salary: 48,500 Salary Unit: Yearly
