Job Title: Transmission Line EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to assist in preparing technical reports and cost estimates for engineering tasks related to overhead transmission line projects. The role involves designing transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range, performing structural analysis and design of various types of structures, and conducting conductor selection, shielding, grounding, and induction studies. You will also develop cost estimates and schedules, prepare specifications for the procurement of transmission line materials and construction, and review vendor submittals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical reports and cost estimates for engineering tasks.

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.

• Perform structural analysis and design of pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures.

• Conduct foundation designs.

• Perform conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding, and induction studies.

• Develop cost estimates and schedules.

• Prepare specifications for the procurement of transmission line materials and construction.

• Specify transmission line components.

• Model transmission lines in PLS-CADD, determine right of way requirements, calculate conductor sags, and develop transmission line plan and profile drawings.

• Review vendor submittals.

Essential Skills

• Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering experience.

• 2+ years of transmission line engineering experience.

• Experience in overhead transmission projects.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.

• EIT certification.

• Experience in transmission line design and electrical design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Strong problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Work Environment

The position requires working 5 days in the office, located onsite at the utility in Spring Valley, NY. The team includes five other engineers who work collaboratively, but you will also engage with other engineers onsite at the utility. The environment is supportive, with a strong, well-developed team that values long-term employment and professional growth. The team is hands-on and close-knit, offering opportunities for career development and new challenges.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $47.00/hr.
