Our OB/GYN practice located in Albany, NY is seeking an RN to join our dynamic Women's Health team in our high risk Maternal Fetal division! We offer a friendly team-oriented work environment centered on efficient, compassionate patient care.

Salary range: $68,640 - $99,023

Under the Supervision of the Nursing Supervisor and/or Nurse Manager, the RN provides nursing support to primary and subspecialty providers. This is demonstrated using the nursing process to work collaboratively with the health-care team in planning, directing, providing and evaluating patient care. The RN is defined within the department to provide patient care, triage, consultation and referral among team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Completes organized and quality documentation as required by the department.

  • Facilitates the utilization of resources to meet patient outcomes (case management).

  • Analyzes patient care needs and utilizes a systematic approach to delivery of care.

  • Provides age appropriate direct patient care from the preparation of patients through the end of the office visit and all tasks in between including diagnostics, venipuncture, administration of medications, and assistance of physicians as needed.

  • Performs telephone triage including coordination of care and documentation.

  • Schedules tests and procedures as indicated within the division and obtains prior authorizations as needed.

  • Works with physicians and other resources to develop teaching tools for families and patients.

  • Performs community outreach as indicated.

  • Work on studies with Principal Investigator as indicated within the department.

  • Provides patient and family education taking into consideration cultural, religious, language, and motivational, physical, emotional and cognitive factors into account in the teaching plan

  • Works with other departments inside and outside of AMC to coordinate multidisciplinary care

  • Ensures that medical equipment functioning properly and knows process to manage failure as need arises

  • Participates in the patient throughput process in the clinic as indicated and needed (including vital signs, updating medical records, performing diagnostic procedures, assisting the physician and practitioners, facilitating teaching, end of appointment coordination of care)

  • Orientation of new staff

  • Works with division physicians, administrative staff and Nurse Manager to assure compliance with regulatory conditions and policies and procedures

  • Actively participate in the survey process in regards to accreditation

  • Utilizes scheduling system lookup to ensure appropriate follow up has been scheduled

  • Locates regulations and policies and procedures on line and know how to apply

  • Utilizes educational resources on Intranet for self education and education of other staff and families

  • Writes letters of medical necessity as indicated

  • Delegates daily tasks to appropriate clinical staff and ensures completion of tasks

  • Collaborates with administrative staff and physicians on the Quality Improvement Team to address clinical and non-clinical issues within the division

  • Maintains compliancy with regulatory agencies

  • Reviews and triages incoming test results as indicated within the division

  • Documents properly, giving age appropriate care, gathering data correctly (including vital signs), and facilitating care in a customer friendly manner

  • Maintains compliance with AMC standards for electronic system use

  • Maintains compliance with AMC Code of Conduct

  • Maintains a safe environment within the clinic and working office space

  • Realizes their role in Environment of Care Surveys.

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree of a state accredited Registered Nursing program is required

  • NYS current RN licensure to practice professional nursing is required

  • Current CPR certification required

  • Certification in specialty, Ambulatory setting preferred

  • OB experience preferred but not required

Skills required for the Position:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from physicians, patients and their family members or other employees within the work setting. Familiar with computer software.

  • Effective Written and Verbal Communication Skills

  • Working Knowledge of MS Word and Excel

  • Experience with electronic health record preferred

  • Ability to give medications via all routes and ability to calculate medication doses

  • Proficiency in the operation of standard office equipment (Adding Machine, Fax, Photocopier, Credit Card Machine) and clinical equipment (Sphygmomanometer, Electronic Vital Signs machine, pulse oximetry machine, infant scale, adult scale and stadiometer)

  • Must be a team player and multi-task within a fast-paced clinical environment

Work schedule: Monday – Friday (8:00am - 4:30pm)
